This painting was inspired by photographs a friend sent me from his journey to the Antarctic. One image in particular fascinated me so deeply that I felt compelled to translate it onto canvas. The vast, icy landscape and the quiet strength of the animals immediately resonated with me. For me, the penguins embody Antarctica itself. They represent the remarkable resilience of wildlife surviving in extreme cold, enduring conditions that seem almost unimaginable. Their presence in the frozen expanse feels both fragile and powerful — small figures standing against an endless world of ice. While painting, my main focus was to express the cold — not only visually, but emotionally. The sharp light, the cool tones, and the open space were essential in conveying the icy atmosphere. At the same time, I wanted to highlight the sense of unity within the group. The closeness of the penguins reflects warmth, solidarity, and collective strength — a quiet reminder that survival in such an environment is deeply connected to togetherness.
